Mrs Dalloway

Kit is appearing in the Centenary Production of Mrs Dalloway in an innovative live/film presentation.  Mrs Dalloway: Embodied is a collaboration with Jen Heyes and is the second in her trilogy with the third part (also a collaboration with Kit) being Antigone.  Initial events in 2025 – full UK tour in 2026

Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf’s most famous work, takes place on a single day in June 1923. The aftershocks of the First World War, which ended five years earlier, reverberate throughout the novel: Woolf was pioneering in the ways in which she confronted the negative impact of that conflict. The stories of Clarissa and Peter, Richard and Elizabeth, Miss Kilman and, above all, Septimus Smith – their transports of memory and pangs of emotion – commemorate all who were lost and evoke that inescapable sense of collective distress. But the shadow of another hugely traumatic event affecting people across the world is cast throughout Mrs Dalloway. Post-Covid, many of us will recognise that feeling of mental desolation as an insidious legacy which we are left, by ourselves, to cope with. In 2024, five years on from the start of the pandemic, our adaptation of Mrs Dalloway will shine a light on our states of body, and mind. We are delighted that Mrs Dalloway is on the 2025 syllabus.

This highly entertaining and visually spectacular production of  Mrs Dalloway planned for world premiere in 2025, will be adapted by Jen Heyes in collaboration with Kit Green.

Heyes will also direct and Green will star and play all the other characters, live and in cinematic landscapes and digital content. This will be a sensory production exploring sound and ASMR in Woolf’s work, to that end we will be including foley, looping, sampling and making beats out of real sound.
